Install the bulkhead

Use this information to install the bulkhead.

Before you install the bulkhead, complete the following steps:
  1. Read Installation Guidelines to ensure that you work safely.

  2. If the compute node is installed in a chassis, remove it (see Remove a compute node for instructions).
  3. Carefully lay the compute node on a flat, static-protective surface, orienting the compute node with the bezel pointing away from you.
  4. Remove the compute node cover (see Remove the compute node cover for instructions).

To install the bulkhead, complete the following steps:

Watch the procedure. A video of the process is available:

  1. Remove the air baffle (see Remove the air baffle for instructions).
  2. Remove the I/O expansion adapters (see Remove an I/O expansion adapter for instructions).
  3. Make sure every component is firmly installed; then, carefully place the compute node in the up-side-down orientation.
Note: Make sure you keep the work surface clean, without any irrelevant tools, components and screws underneath the compute node. Compute node is vulnerable when there is no cover and in the up-side-down position.
  4. With the rear edge of the compute node protruding slightly past the edge of the work surface, align the bottom edge of the bulkhead with the rear of the compute node chassis; then, carefully align the bulkhead into place on the compute node.
  5. Using a T8 Torx screwdriver, install the eight screws that secure the bulkhead to the compute node.
  6. Carefully return the node to the bottom-side-down orientation.
After you install the bulkhead, complete the following steps:
  1. Install the I/O expansion adapters (see Install an I/O expansion adapter for instructions).

  2. Install the air baffle (see Install the air baffle for instructions).

  3. Install the compute node cover onto the compute node (see Install the compute node cover for instructions).
  4. Install the compute node into the chassis (see Install a compute node for instructions).
